My kitchen may be mostly new and shiny, but the placement of the pantry continues unwise. It's directly across from the entry to the basement. Now, that isn't normally that big of a deal. However, when you absolutely need that last sweet onion for two cold salads AND as part of your 'burger condiment array,' you do not want to pull it from the shelf and bobble it for several agonizingly long seconds before watching it drop to your (still) tilty floor, roll to the basement doorway and kathunk! kathunk! kathunk! down the entire length of the basement stairs.

It might help to have an adorable one-eyed kitty chase it as it careens along. Far as I can tell, though: not so much.
