saucy_dryad: (kitty (v. intent))
If you're not so much for the kitty stuff, know that I put this behind a cut just for you.

For everyone else, click away for what I like to call, "What up with the fuzzy ones." Actually, I don't like to call it that at all. I just couldn't think of anything else, and I have to get to bed. Still... kitties!

It's done. Her passing was peaceful and I was with her the entire time.

Thank you so very much to everyone who has sent their love and hugs, blessings and prayers and comforting words. Again, I'll put this under a cut since I'm writing this up for my own very poor memory's sake. As if six months from now I won't remember how she loved to dive into shopping bags and rip her way out like a Ridley Scott alien. Or that she was mad keen on 'helping' me make the bed, burrowing under the sheets and holding very still until I pounced my hands upon her. Or how she disdained the foofy feather toy I bought, but loved the plain old stick end of it. How she and Esme raced around, chasing each other, instant friends. That she had a biting problem, and when I tried to break her of it, she merely licked the deterrent - full strength Tabasco sauce - off of my finger tips.

I'm not disabling comments, but please don't feel you need to respond. You've all been fantastic and lovely and warm and wonderful, and I appreciate every speck of good feeling for Zee as well as for Don and myself.

Huge thanks to all of you who have sent me messages or were just thinking warm and squishy thoughts mine and Zee's way. I know that reading about this isn't everyone's cuppa. I do need to get it down, though, so I'll put everything else under a cut.

Whether you read beneath the cut or not, *do* hug someone you love. Or skritch your pet. Or both.

It's Feline Infectious Peritonitis. There's no treatment. I take her in Monday just before noon.

Zinda's eye is aggressively worse. Dr. AwesomeVet consulted a kitty opthamologist. Here's the bad news: the great, GREAT majority of the time, anterior uveitis is indicative of something systemic. Zee is getting a comprehensive course of blood work, including tests for Feleuk, Feline AIDS and FIP, toxoplasmosis and something else that I forgot but sounded sort of like Barbarella.* There's also a chance there could be a tumor behind the eye, but there are so many infiltrates clouding the eye right now Dr. AV can't see behind the lens.

We've a new course of treatment, but if it doesn't work she has to see the specialist. I gave the poor kitty her first dose of atropine (which makes her salivate in an icky, foamy and persistent way. she hates it a lot). Later, I start her on the first of her twice-daily doses of doxycycline (liquid, orally administered). We've changed her other drops to pred acetate.

If any of you have kind thoughts or healing prayers to spare, would you mind sending them to my kitty? It's completely selfish of me, but I really need her to be okay. This is my bottle-reared baby. Thanks, all.

*It's Bartonella. Google, you have my thanks.
