I find it freakin' adorable that my husband refers to AtLA as 'The Appa Show.'
saucy_dryad: (exterminate!)
To my friends who knit: I want - nay, NEED! - these.

I'm thinking that stitched together, they'd make a rather cool scarf.

p.s. to view this, I had to join ravelry.com. Figure it's a good way to try to improve my pathetically rudimentary crochet skills. One of these days I'm going to try knitting again.

More once I've rewatched and processed and thought things through in a sufficiently thinky way, but for now my immediate thoughts are under the cut.

The Pandorica will open... and, y'know - stuff will happen )

In case you were wondering, the second viewing of the series finale of Ashes to Ashes made me weep no less horribly than the first go 'round.

I am SO glad Don's not home right now.

Re-watching Series One of Doctor Who. I know Christopher Eccleston wanted to do a single season and be done with it, yet I can't help but lament. I love watching him, watching his choices as an actor.

He was fantastic.

I'm catching up on 'Dollhouse.' I'd only seen the first four episodes and wasn't all that impressed. Episode five was much better.

In related news, there seems to be a law that Mark Sheppard must appear in every show that I watch.

ETA: Tahmoh Penikett is seriously badass. And adorable. Nice combination.

I'm really not all that into the whole vampire/werewolf thing, but tell me a good story and I'm there. To that end, I watched the entirety of Being Human- including the pilot- in two days.

Love these characters. George, with his sticky-outy ears and little wire rimmed glasses. Yummy not-usually-my-type Mitchell, with his gorgeous grin and green fingerless gloves that I want so badly. Annie, with the best hair ever and a kick ass character arc.

I want season two now, please. And I need to find an icon I like that includes Annie, because I do so adore the trio.

I've watched The Sino-Mexican Revelation twice now and somehow failed to notice that Sensei Ping is the Chairman from Iron Chef America. All I ever thought was, "Wow. Sensei Ping's a bit of a hottie."

My geektective skills have failed me.

I do not have a single Middleman icon. That must change. In the meanwhile, I'll use this one, though entirely unrelated, because I love it so.

I've been a bit weepy of late. Any old thing will set me off: 'This American Life' podcasts, the kitties being adorable, Jonathan Coulton songs, the recycling not being picked up again, Pearls Before Swine strips, rain, falling leaves, mushy tomatoes, Un Lun Dun. It's most likely the time of year. Autumn, for all that I adore it, has always made me a wee bit melancholy. And then, too, this time last year Dad was in serious decline. Within a few weeks I'll probably be back to normal, but for now? I'm in a constant state of sniffle.

It probably wasn't the best idea to start re-watching Season Four of Doctor Who.

In happier, non-sniffly news, Handsome Tom's blood work came back clean.* And while he wasn't pleased with me for bundling him into a carrier and driving him away from his domain, he was happy enough to flirt with all the ladies at the vet's office. It cracks me up how they dote on him. He's got it, that boy.

*he had to be retested after his last visit to the vet.
