Dec. 30th, 2008 05:22 pmZinda's eye is aggressively worse. Dr. AwesomeVet consulted a kitty opthamologist. Here's the bad news: the great, GREAT majority of the time, anterior uveitis is indicative of something systemic. Zee is getting a comprehensive course of blood work, including tests for Feleuk, Feline AIDS and FIP, toxoplasmosis and something else that I forgot but sounded sort of like Barbarella.* There's also a chance there could be a tumor behind the eye, but there are so many infiltrates clouding the eye right now Dr. AV can't see behind the lens.
We've a new course of treatment, but if it doesn't work she has to see the specialist. I gave the poor kitty her first dose of atropine (which makes her salivate in an icky, foamy and persistent way. she hates it a lot). Later, I start her on the first of her twice-daily doses of doxycycline (liquid, orally administered). We've changed her other drops to pred acetate.
If any of you have kind thoughts or healing prayers to spare, would you mind sending them to my kitty? It's completely selfish of me, but I really need her to be okay. This is my bottle-reared baby. Thanks, all.
*It's Bartonella. Google, you have my thanks.
