part cheese sandwich™, part bad movie glee
Aug. 2nd, 2007 09:51 pmI've been taking care of my sister-in-law's rabbit while she and the family are away . The bunny, Dream (who is tiny and brindled rather than lanky and pale as one might reasonably expect), was wary of me on Tuesday. I cleaned out his living quarters, refilled his hay ball and water bottle and then tried to skritch him. Alas, Dream was having none of this stranger who showed up out of nowhere to do everything just slightly wrong ("Mom cuts the crusts off of the pellets before slicing them diagonally, not vertically"). When I went back yesterday, Dream had apparently missed human contact enough that I was allowed to pet him for a good fifteen minutes.
Today, after cleaning up and refilling all food and water receptacles and fluffing up his bedding, I put my hand into the hutch to give him a wee skritch before heading out. Half an hour later...
Seriously. I'd stop skritching to rest my arm, which was at an odd angle, and Dream would sit up, look at me for a moment, then move closer to my resting hand and shove his head underneath it. "You," he seemed to say, "are nowhere near done. Get to it, thank you very much." I would have thought this an anomaly, but he did it no less than five times.
I've never had a bunny, nor previously spent much time with one, but I confess I am somewhat enchanted.
Unrelated but worthy of note:
National Treasure: Book of Secrets looks abysmally, wonderfully bad. Helen Mirren, I'm trusting you to Bring the Class! Also, I confess a shameful geek!crush on Riley. That's right. I said it.
and a shoutout to
