Nov. 7th, 2008 12:43 amIt's been two days since, as Jane Yolen put it, "the world actually changed on its axis!"
I want to post my thoughts, my hopes and my concerns, but I'm still far too scattered. In short, I'm a mess. Any old thing sets me to weeping: stories of first time voters, stories of elderly voters, photos of the lines of people waiting to vote. There was one account of two young kids ready to bail on the long line, but everyone else encouraged them to stay, told them it was that important. The kids ordered pizza from Dominos and stayed right where they were. To see the reaction from this country, and to see the reaction from the rest of the world... I am overwhelmed. So, until I am able to get it together and try to speak with any modicum of coherence, I'll rely on the words of a most insightful man:
"We have done the impossible, and that makes us mighty."
