My semi-epic list of Things To Be Done is not, in fact, done. I'm not overly fussed. I got in a good workout and managed a fair small but detail-oriented amount of housework.

Today was an early class (teaching, not taking) and then general maintenance/manning the desk at the gym. I'd every intention of going for a walk/run when I got home, but my muscles were tired and sore. I could have pushed it. Almost did. Then I decided that there was no shame in giving myself a day of recovery. I'll take the early kickboxing class tomorrow and, if all goes well, go for that walk/run later in the day.

As for the sensible eating... hmm. For a while there (read: several months) my habits were flat out awful. I was eating whatever struck my fancy and far too much of it. This week I've made better choices. Mind, homemade guacamole three times in five days was not the wisest meal choice, but at least it was loaded with tomato and onion. And cilantro, which is green, so it must be good for me. Tonight it's black bean soup and a big ol' salad, tomorrow it's leftover veggie chili and brown rice.

Gardening update in the near future! To give you a preview: my perennials have come back beautifully (I am ridiculously excited), I think I planted the first of my tomatoes too early and my peas and strawberries too late. Also, I don't know what other veggies and herbs I should plant.

p.s. slugs squick me no end. ::shudder::

Did a one-day Faire in Wappinger's Falls today. Heat in the mid-high 90s. Layers of costume. Lots of marching on hot asphalt.* Tensions running high. Beer truck running late. Piped-in dance music competing with our first set (but seriously, "Everybody dance now!" completely works if you plug in, "Can you dance the polka?"). Small crowds due to the aforementioned heat.

And yet I still had a really, really good time. HUGE thanks to [livejournal.com profile] aryiana, as she is made of win (and frozen watermelon cubes and an ADORABLE wee bebeh** (and, come to that, two gorgeous kids nearly grown - how did that happen?)).

I had a snippy moment. Not proud of that, and apologized to most of those who were there. If I missed you, please consider this my apology. Bad time to bring it up, and certainly bad form.

Must mention that I got a blister on my tipper finger. Please excuse the chatspeak, but WTF? I've been playing how long? Even with breaks in between bouts of serious drum time, this has never happened. I blame the crazy sweat and weird drum-to-hand-to-tipper tension on the parade route. In any event, my drumming for the rest of the day was sort of - nay, full out!- sucky. fmreh.

On the way home, Don and I stopped for kick ass mexican food. I confess I ate waaaaay more than I ought to have done, but oh! it was so astoundingly tasty!

*this was somewhat ameliorated by the Drama of the Float that was just ahead of the fight group, which was - in turn - just ahead of us. The canopy was taken out by low hanging branches pretty early on, and a stop sign nearly popped off the back wheels of the tractor/trailer bed when trying to make a turn onto a narrow side street. Excellent street theater, that.

**tickticktickticktick, dammit
